SAINT-OMER
ALICE DIOP

FICTION, DRAMA - Postproduction
FRENCH RELEASE - 2022
SYNOPSIS
Rama, a young novelist in her thirties, attends the trial of Laurence Coly at the Saint-Omer court. She is accused of having killed her fifteen-month-old daughter by abandoning her on a beach in the north of France during the rising tide.
Rama wanted to write a contemporary adaptation of the ancient myth of Medea about this infanticide story. But during the five days of the trial, nothing goes as planned.
In an unexpected way, it is finally her own relationship to motherhood that the closed-door trial will question.
